Samsung Galaxy Pocket S5300 - Review

This is the first Android device I have gotten. A respectable device that runs most of the apps you might want.



A lot of people confuse the Galaxy Pocket with the Galaxy Y (S5360) and here's why. When you first look at these two phones you might think they're the same phone, but upon closer inspection you will find the difference between these two devices. For starters the Pocket is 103.7 X 57.5 X 12mm whereas the Y is 104 X 58 X 11.5mm, dimension-wise. also the Pocket has an internal storage of 3 GB but the Y has only 180 MB however the Y is faster at 7.2 Mbps and Pocket is 3.6 Mbps. Those are just some of the major differences between the two phones. They are not the same thing!

The Galaxy Pocket is a true droid. It gives users quad-band GSM connectivity and dual-band 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a capacitive, multi-touch enabled screen. It can be a basic music player and a basic camera - and the expandable memory is one of the key features that make the Galaxy Pocket a smart buy.

There're lots of blank spots on its spec sheet, which make it vulnerable to older midrange droids in the same price range, but the Samsung Galaxy Pocket is for learners. Convenience and affordability were top priorities, in what Samsung would like to see as the first step towards a long-term commitment.

But the pocket does have some drawbacks:

• The low screen resolution limits the choice of apps.
• It has a fixed focus camera. 
• It also does not have a secondary camera. 
• It does not support Adobe Flash Player.

Even with these cons, it runs all the basic apps perfectly. Your Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Opera Mini, Dolphin Browser, Skype all work fine with no problem. Just be careful not to overload the phone with apps as this tends to slow down the device and cause problems...
