God of War: Ascension

God of War: Ascension

This particular instalment is set somewhere in-between the events of God of War and God of War II. As we play, we discover that the former god of war, Ares is the cause for all the confusion in Kratos' life. Now the furies hunt him down determined to make him pay for breaking his blood oath to Ares...

The beasts and monsters in this one are the freakiest I've seen in a God of War to date. The Hecatonchires for one is one gruesome and disgusting monster all topped with the fact that it's the first boss monster you fight. The furies are also a force to be reckoned with, wielding terrible shape-shifting powers...

The Hecatonchires - Aegaeon

The gods of Olympus seem to be on your side in this one.You start off with the Blades of Chaos given to you by Ares and as you progress your blades are infused with new powers courtesy of the gods. The Fire of Ares, unleash your fury and stun surrounding enemies with Ares' fire. Ice of Poseidon, this grants you the power to momentarily freeze your opponents while yo unleash your wrath. Lightning of Zeus, grants the thunderous lightning of the god Zeus, electrifying your foes. Soul of Hades, you can summon undead souls from the depths of Hades to aid in your battles. Amulet of Uroborus, grants the power to repair or decay your surroundings, helping you access the inaccessible. The Oath Stone of Orkos, given by the oath keeper, be in two places at once. Eyes of Truth, the eyes of the Oracle that see through the illusions of the Furies...

One of The Furies

This was released on March 12, 2013, for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) console. And like the other God of War games, it is only on the PlayStation is the seventh instalment in the God of War series and prequel to the entire series. Loosely based on Greek mythology, the game is set in Ancient Greece with vengeance as the main driving force. The player controls the protagonist Kratos, the former servant of the God of War, Ares, who tricked Kratos into killing his wife and child. Kratos renounced Ares, breaking his blood oath to the god. For this act, Kratos was imprisoned by the three Furies, the guardians of honour and enforcers of punishment. Helped by the oath keeper Orkos, and learning that Ares and the Furies plan to overthrow Mount Olympus, Kratos escapes his imprisonment, defeats the Furies, and reluctantly kills Orkos. Although free of Ares' bond, Kratos begins to suffer the nightmares that will plague him throughout his adventures..

i am particularly disappointed with this God of War game. As an avid follower of the series I was quite shocked to find that the game was already over, without much effort. This is not the God of War I am used to, it needed to be longer, harder and a bit more challenging, but this wasn't the case. i think this might be accustomed to it being the only God of War game to have on-line multi player capability...

Most might like this but I think it took away from.the extensive storyline we have come to know and love. but all in all, a great game as God of War always promises. Thank you Santa Monica...
